intravitreal Ozurdex implantation

Intravitreal Ozurdex Implantation is an advanced eye treatment used to manage macular edema caused by retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, or inflammation from non-infectious uveitis. Ozurdex is a tiny biodegradable implant that slowly releases dexamethasone, a corticosteroid, directly into the vitreous cavity of the eye. This sustained release reduces swelling, inflammation, and fluid buildup in the retina, improving or stabilizing vision. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, is quick, and offers long-lasting effects (typically up to 4–6 months) before the implant naturally dissolves.

  • Contains dexamethasone, a powerful corticosteroid.
  • Treats macular edema and retinal inflammation.
  • Biodegradable implant placed inside the vitreous cavity.
  • Slowly releases medicine over 4–6 months.
  • Reduces retinal swelling and fluid accumulation.
  • Performed under local anesthesia.
